In a shocking incident, Mystery shrouded the death of a Class IX girl student whose body was found hanging at Betaguda-based Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya under Paralakhemundi block in Gajapati district on Monday.
The matter came to the fore after some locals spotted the body and immediately informed the police about the same.
The deceased has been identified as Sudhamani Raita of Alada village. She was living in a hostel and studying in Jawahar Navodaya school.
Police have started investigation after sending the body for post-mortem.
A pall of gloom has descended in the area following the news of the incident spread.
According to the School authorities, Sudhamani committed suicide as she was under immense pressure due to her exams.
Further investigation is underway in this regard.
