Naba Das Murder Case: Court Approves Further Remand, Tests Of Accused
Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch investigating the murder case of former Health Minister Naba Das was allowed by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Jharsuguda on Wednesday to take accused Gopal Krishna Das on a further five days remand.
As the four-day police remand of Gopal ends today, he was produced by the Crime Branch before the Court. The investigating agency also got the permission from the Court to conduct narco analysis and polygraph tests on Gopal.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Crime Branch had taken Gopal for crime scene recreation at Gandhi Chowk in Brajrajnagar, where he had shot the Minister on January 29 at point-blank range. Gopal was on traffic duty during the Minister’s visit to an inauguration event.
After the attack, the Minister was initially taken to the district headquarters hospital and later airlifted to Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar, where he succumbed to his injuries from a bullet that penetrated his heart and lung.
