Last Queen Of Odisha’s Tigiria Estate Rasamanjari Devi Passes Away At 96

Maharani Rasamanjari Devi, the last queen of Tigiria estate, passed away at her residence due to old age-related ailments on Sunday. She was 96.

According to sources, her last rites will be performed at the royal crematorium today.

The wife of last king of Gadajat regime, late Brajaraj Birabar Kshatriya Champatisingh Mohapatra, Rasamanjari Devi had been elected from Athagarh Assembly Constituency after contesting on a Janata Dal party ticket and served as an MLA from 1977 to 1980.

Notably, the queen was elected from Athagarh Assembly Constituency and served as an MLA from 1977 to 1980. She had contested the election on a Janata party ticket.

As soon as the news of the queen’s demise spread in the area, people from all walks of life, including Animal Resources Development Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, visited the queen’s residence to pay their last respect.
