Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Akshaya Kumar Pattnaik, Senior Laboratory Technician of Tarva Community Health Centre in Sonepur district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 from a complainant for some medical test reports.
Though the tests are done free, Vigilance had received several complaints stating Patnaik used to charge money for the tests. Acting on the complaints, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and nabbed Patnaik red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched at two locations related to Pattnaik to ascertain whether he had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known source of income. Sambalpur Vigilance has lodged a case in this regard and an investigation is in progress.
