IMD issues Yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning for 9 districts in Odisha
With overcast skies and rain in a few Odisha districts during the last 24 hours, the weather in most parts of Odisha has changed. Smouldering heat with rising temperature has taken a downward turn under the influence of western disturbance.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri and dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cloudy weather prevailed in the interior areas of the state on Friday. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain in five districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
These five districts include Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and Balasore. A yellow warning has been issued by the IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar. IMD has forecast rain and thundershowers at several places in these five districts.
Meanwhile, 2 mm of rain was recorded at Jamada in the Mayurbhanj district, while there was 2.6 mm of rain in Bahalda under the influence of the western disturbances.
The sky remained partly cloudy in the coastal areas and adjoining regions.
There was a slight nip in the day temperature (maximum temperature) at many places in the state during the last 24 hours.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33.0°C and 22.0°C respectively in Bhubaneswar and adjoining regions.
