Bhubaneswar, Apr 12: A female elephant was found dead at Jarada forest range near Lachan in Ulusar reserve forest of Sundergarh district.
Bonai DFO L M Patra and ACS have reached the spot and are inquiring into the incident.
Patra said though the exact cause of the death is not known, the elephant might have been killed after coming in contact with the live electric wire laid to lift water .
On Tuesday a tusker was electrocuted after coming in contact with live electric wire laid by poachers to hunt wild boars in Bardunguri forest near Masada village under Binika Forest division in Subarnapur district.
