ECoR GM monitors restoration work at train accident site in AP
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: The restoration work at Sunday’s train accident site between Kantakapalli Alamanda in the main line of Waltair division is going on war footing, East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources here on Monday said.
ECoR General Manager Manoj Sharma is monitoring the restoration work at the accident site along with Principal heads of Departments of ECoR and Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair.
At least eight numbers of Poclain Machines,one 140 Tons Crane (Rail Crane) and 800 to 900 manpowers are engaged in the restoration work.
ECoR sources said eleven coaches of 08532 Visakhapatnam –Palasa reached next Alamanda station while 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada train rear nine coaches pulled back to the previous station KantakapalliOther than the derailed and affected coaches , all coaches were cleared from the site.
The injured passengers have been shifted to the hospital and ex gratia of Rs,10lakhs in case of death and Rs 2 lakh towards grievous injuries and Rs.50,000 for minor injuries have been announced by the Railway Minister Aswani Vaishnaw.
The ECoR has meanwhile cancelled several long distance trains and rescheduled some other trains due to the accident.
The toll in the train accident has gone up to 14, eleven of whom have already been identified while injured passengers are undergoing treatment in the GGH in Vizianagaram, KG hospital and NRI hospital in Visakhapatnam, railway sources said.
