Olive Ridley sea turtles begin laying eggs on Puri’s Krushnaprasad Beach

Olive Ridley sea turtles have started laying eggs at the Krushnaprasad beach in Puri district. So far, the Forest department has collected 2,825 Olive Ridley eggs from Satapada, Nuapada and Rambha ranges and taken them to temporary hatcheries for safety hatching.

Forest officials have collected a total of 2,825 eggs from Satapada, Nuapada and Rambha ranges for safety hatching. While 250 eggs have been collected from Satapada range area, 407 collected from Ramabharatia beach, 637 from Arakhakuda beach, 782 from Naba beach under Ramba range and 185 collected from Baliamla beach and 564 from Khirisahi beach of Nupada Range.

The collected eggs have been kept in temporary hatcheries erected under Nupada and Satapada range areas.
