Cuttack Woman Charred To Death In House Fire; 12 Houses Completely Gutted
Cuttack: A woman was charred to death after a fire broke out in Haridapal village of Karanji panchayat under Tangi block and Choudwar police limits of Cuttack district.
The deceased woman has been identified as 25-year-old Pushpalata Mahanta, the wife of Ranjeet Mahanta.
According to reports, at least 12 houses in the villager caught fire in the village and were reduced to ashes destroying properties worth lakhs of rupees.
The fire broke out in the thatched house of Ranjan Mahanta and Pushpalata who was inside got trapped in the blaze. She could not come out of her house despite efforts by the villagers and was charred to death.
On being informed, the local police and firefighters reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Choudwar police have registered a case in this connection and started an investigation into the incident.
However, the reason behind the inferno is yet to be ascertained.
