Body Of Missing CRPF Jawan Found Hanging In Odisha’s Jajpur Jungle

Jajpur: Body of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, who went missing from Sompur village under Erasma police station limits in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district since Monday, was found hanging on a hill in Dhanamandal area of Odisha’s Jajpur district.

According to reports, Surya Kanta left his home in Sompur village on Tuesday and when he did not return home, a relative, Vikas Mohanty, filed a missing report at the Erasma police station.

Kuanr’s motorcycle was earlier recovered near the hill under the jurisdiction of Badachana police station following which a search had been launched in the area. While the police were unable to trace his whereabouts on Wednesday.

Finally, the search party recovered his body hanging from a tree in a dense jungle atop a hill near Dhanmandal. A team of police personnel along with scientific staff rushed to the site and recovered the body. Police launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances in which the incident took place. The body was sent for postmortem.

The jawan had come home on leave to attend the last rites of his grandmother and efforts were made to trace him following his disappearance. After waiting for a day, his wife had lodged a complaint at Ersama police station.
