BMC Starts Puncturing Vehicles Parked In ‘No-Parking’

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Odisha’s capital has come up with a unique solution to address parking rule violations. Tired of seeing repeated traffic rule violations despite issuing guidelines and warnings to vehicle owners, the BMC has now decided to deflate the tires of vehicles that violate traffic rules.

The BMC was under pressure to control traffic violations before and during the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, and as a solution, they came up with this idea to serve as a lesson for those who violate traffic rules in the city.

On Wednesday, BMC staff went around the city and punctured the tires of all vehicles parked in the ‘No-Parking’ zone between Jayadev Vihar and Z1 after their announcements on megaphone speakers failed to elicit a response.

According to sources, the BMC’s “puncture” drive will continue throughout the city, particularly in congested market areas and malls where people park their vehicles haphazardly, sometimes even on walkways.
