BJP’s 12-Hour Bandh Affects Normal Life In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: Normal life including vehicular movement in several parts of Mayurbhanj District has been affected on Monday as BJP and Mayurbhanj Nagarika Manch activists are observing a 12-hour bandh in the district over several demands.

Reportedly, the protest was staged against the alleged failure of the state government to take any action against the District Collector, SP and Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sriramchandra Bhanja University for the power outage during President Draupadi Murmu’s speech at the university’s 12th convocation on May 10 this year.

Normal life was hit in the district as all shops, business establishments, and academic institutions remained closed in all the four sub-divisions of the district – Baripada, Pachapadi, Kaptipada, and Bamanaghati Pachapadi, since today morning in support of the bandh call.

BJP district president Candra Saren alleged that the programme was mismanaged by the organisers and it brought shame to the Mayurbhanj district.

Saren demanded stern actions against the District Magistrate, SP, and Vice Chancellor of the University for their Role in organising the programme.
