Bike-Borne Miscreants Kill Goat Trader, Rs 9 lakh looted in Odisha

Unidentified persons allegedly killed a goat trader while two others suffered injuries after three bike-borne masked miscreants opened fire at them during loot near Tarini temple under Lephripada police limits in Sundargarh district, today.

According to sources, trader Ajay Patra and his manager were followed by two persons on a motorcycle in the forenoon. They snatched the bag and speeded away even before they could realise what had just happened.

The miscreants fled the spot after snatching Rs 9 lakh from the trio.

According to sources, at around 5 am today the trio was going to a goat market in Handipani area under Lephripada police limits. To buy goats, they carried Rs 9 lakh with them.

When the traders reached the Tarini temple, they were confronted by three masked miscreants on a motorbike. The miscreants asked the traders to stop and hand over their money to them. As the traders refused to oblige, the miscreants kicked the former’s motorbike and the traders fell to the ground. One of the traders collected the bag containing the money and tried to run away. He was, however, shot down by the miscreants, who fled the spot with the bag.

The attackers then fled the spot with the money.

Police have recovered the body and sent it to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem.

Efforts were on by cops to identify and apprehend the accused trio.
