Bhubaneswar, July 27: An Assistant Engineer of the General Public Health Section of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district was arrested by Odisha vigilance on Thursday in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
Vigilance sources here said Kishore Chandra Sahu, the Assistant Engineer, was arrested after DA to the tune of 313 percent of his known sources of income was unearthed by Vigilance officials during house searches.
The movable and immovable assets of Sahu unearthed included One palatial triple-storied building at Bhawanipatna town worth over Rs 1.10 crores, two plots in a prime area of Bhawanipatna Town, Bank, postal, and Insurance deposits over Rs 1.54 crores, Rs 2.65 lakhs in cash, Gold jewellery of approx. 441 grams, and 700 grams of silver ornaments.
Household articles worth over Rs 5.47 5.47 lakh were also recovered.
Sahu is being forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna for possession of disproportionate assets, and a case has been registered against him and his spouse under U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018.
