If you are VIP in Kerala you can abuse officials inside police station & get away: Cong MLA

Kochi, Oct 25: Congress legislator Uma Thomas on Wednesday alleged that VIPs in Kerala can get away even if they abuse police officials inside a police station.

She was responding to award winning actor Vinayakan’s arrest on Tuesday evening for creating ruckus in the Town police station here and being let off on station bail after flimsy charges were put on him.

Thomas told the media: “It is shameful what happened and how he behaved inside the police station and the words he said just cannot be said. When non-bailable charges should have been put on him, it was not done. If anyone suspects if there was an intervention from the Cliff House (official residence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ) it should not be dismissed. So this sort of treatment is there only for comrades and if you are one, then the law will not take its course. It’s indeed shameful that VIPs can get away.”

Tuesday night Vinayakan had come to the station to resolve a family issue when he lost his cool as he was allegedly in an inebriated state. Despite the best efforts to cool down the highly temperamental actor, he failed to behave himself and then the police registered a case and recorded his arrest. He was taken to a hospital for the mandatory medical examination that takes place after an arrest, and later was released on bail, after bailable charges were put on him.

Starting his film career in 1995, he won the Kerala state best actor award for his role in ‘Kammatipadam’ in 2016. His popularity reached dizzy heights for his stellar role in the blockbuster Tamil action thriller film ‘Jailer’, presently running to packed houses.
