Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 : The STF of Odisha police have arrested two absconding drug peddlers during raids on the basis of intelligence input.
STF sources here on Sunday said a raid was conducted by a team of STF and BBSR at Khordha on September 29 last, and drug peddler Md Sadam, the absconding drug peddler, was apprehended in a case in 2022 in which contraband brown sugar (3 kg, 110 grams), three 7 mm pistols, seven magazines, and 43 rounds of 7 mm ammunition, besides other incriminating materials, were seized from the possession of accused persons.
However, Md Sadam absconded from the spot during the raid. He was the main supplier of arms and ammunition to the accused person, Siba Prasad Das.
STF sources said Sadam was forwarded to the court of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Spl. Judge, Nayagarh, on Saturday.
Similarly, in another case way back in 2021, the STF team managed to arrest one Chittranjan Behera, another absconding accused who was booked under Section U/S-21(c)/29 NDPS Act 1985.
The STF team, on the basis of intelligence input, arrested Chittaranjan during the raid and forwarded it to the court of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Spl. Judge, Dhenkanal, on September 30.
The STF personnel had seized contraband brown sugar (1090 grams) and other incriminating materials from the possession of accused persons in December 2021.
However, Chittaranjan managed to escape during the raid. The STF has booked him under U/S 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 NDPS Act.
