Survivors used torch and Mobile phone flash to rescue some trapped when state police was not around

One of the deadliest train accidents in the country, the rescue operation was equally shocking as the spot enveloped by pitch darkness made things doubly challenging.

Till late night the lighting arrangement was as good as nothing forcing the rescue teams and the villagers to often use Mobile torch to rescue the dead and trapped.

Secondly, the tracks without Kavach threw the entire thing to the jaws of deaths.

There is nothing wrong in the visits of VIPs but before that, the pressure should have been on the authorities to make the site illuminated enough to facilitate the rescue operation. That also did not happened till late hours.

On top of that, the mess of naked electric wirings inside the bogeys was a cause of fear of electrocution that delayed the operations.

It was a horrific sight as many cries for help were suppressed in the panic.

Brave villagers played Samaritans

An eyewitness account was equally heartrending. As accessed by the Mobilenews24x7 he said that ““I had a torch with me and the others used mobile phone torches to find our way to the derailed coaches. We found people trapped, calling out for help,” said Amanullah, one of the lucky survivors.

“When the shocked passengers tried to help those who were injured and trapped in the derailed coaches, they found local residents already making brave rescue efforts. Alerted by the loud sound of the crash, many locals had rushed to the spot even before the state police arrived”Amanullah added.
