Chennai, Sep 17 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Sunday condoled
the death of renowned writer and filmmaker Gita Mehta and said her contributions
to literature and cinema were immense.
Eighty-year-old Mehta, who was ailing for some time, passed away in New Delhi
on Saturday.
A 1971 war correspondent for a foreign television channel, Ms Gita Mehta was the
elder sister of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and daughter of former Odisha
Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.
Mr Stalin in a social media post said ‘Deeply saddened to learn about the passing
of renowned writer-filmmaker Gita Mehta, sister of Hon’ble Odisha Chief Minister
Thiru @Naveen_Odisha. Tmt Gita’s contributions to literature and cinema were
immense.”
“My heartfelt condolences to Hon’ble Naveen Patnaik and his entire family”, he said.
