Shinde announces Rs 5L to kin of dead in landslide

Mumbai, July 20 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed his grief over the incident of a landslide on Irshalwadi settlement in Khalapur taluka and announced that the deceased in this mishap will be given an aid of Rs 5 lakh and the government will bear the cost of treatment of the injured.

In his tweet, Shinde stated that four deaths have been confirmed so far, and several others are trapped under the debris.

Shinde himself, along with cabinet colleagues, reached the spot and monitored the ongoing rescue operation.

The rescue operation is being hampered because there is no road to the location.

While the NDRF team and the local administration rescue team reached the spot by foot and started their rescue operation manually, So far, 80 people have been rescued from the spot, and the injured were shifted to hospitals.

Due to the weather, the helicopter could not reach the spot for the rescue operation.
