Congress announces election committee for Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi : Congress on Wednesday announced a 38 member election committee for upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
The members in the committee include Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu, party leaders Rajiv Shukla, Salman Khurshid, Pramod Tiwari, and RPN Singh, among others.
The party has been gearing up for the polls to the most populous state of India, which also elects the maximum number of MPs to the Lok Sabha.
Party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been involved with the preparations for the upcoming polls and has visited the state several times.
Last week, Congress launched a campaign against the ruling BJP in the state on the anniversary of the Quit India Movement on August 9.
According to party sources, Congress has received several applications to contest the elections, which will be sorted and filtered by the election committee.
