Pakistan to send humanitarian aid to Gaza: FM

Gaza, Oct 17 : The Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced the immediate dispatch of humanitarian assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip, days after Israel cut food, water and fuel supplies to the Palestinian exclave in a bid to root out Hamas.
“In view of the human tragedy unfolding in Gaza, the Government of Pakistan has decided to immediately dispatch humanitarian relief assistance to Gaza, to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian brothers and sisters,” the ministry said in a statement published on Monday.
It added that the government of Pakistan coordinates its humanitarian measures with “Egypt, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, relevant UN agencies, and Pakistan Missions abroad” in order to finalize the delivery process.
On October 7, Palestinian movement Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to declare a state of war the following day and launch retaliatory strikes. Israel then ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, and ordered around half of them to relocate south. Israel has reported over 1,000 deaths, while the death toll in Gaza has topped 2,000. Thousands of injured have been reported on both sides as a result of the escalation.
