Odisha CM inaugurates hydrological data center in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18 : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated the Odisha State Hydrological Data Center here for the smooth management of water resources.
The center will also conduct scientific analysis of the data relating to climatic change.
Data regarding rain, river water,and the capacity of reservoirs will be collected regularly and its scientific analysis will be done at the center.
Official sources here said the efficiency of the Water Resources department will enhance manifold by the hydrological data center .
Data regarding weather, rain, water flow in rivers, availability of the ground water and reservoirs would be collected through IT and its scientific analysis would be done. Data collection, conservation and analysis would be done with the assistance of the water Resources, IT and Hydrological science.
An integrated Command Control Center has been constituted for the management of the Hydrological data center, inter department coordination and 24-hour monitoring during disaster like flood.
Assessment of water sources, rain prediction, flood related disaster management, supply of water for agriculture through canal, management of small, medium and big reservoirs would be done through hydrological data center.
In addition to it, data of the center would be provided for the use and analysis by Agriculture and Farmers empowerment, Special Relief Commissioner, Disaster Management , Panchayati Raj and drinking water, Forest, Environment and climatic change departments.
