Odisha Assembly Speaker Pramila Mallick suspends two BJP MLAs for rest of the session

Bhubaneswar, Sep 28 : Odisha Assembly Speaker Pramila Mallick on Thursday suspended two BJP MLAs for allegedly throwing pulses at the podium of the Speaker.

The two suspended MLAs are Mohan Charan Majhi and Mukesh Mahaling.

The Speaker said the disciplinary action was taken against the two MLAs as per the decision of the house.

The BJP legislators were protesting against the remark of BJD MLA Arun Sahu against the leader of Opposition which was not expunged by the Speaker despite appeals from the BJP members.

Since the Speaker did not expunge the remarks against the Leader of Opposition, the two MLAs said, as a mark of protest, they threw the pulses kept in a polythene packet at the podium to lodge their strong protest.

They alleged that the Speaker was acting at the behest of the BJD and not allowing the Leader of Opposition to speak in the house.

The Speaker said the two BJP MLAs were suspended for the rest of the session as per the constitutional norms.

Both the suspended BJP MLAs condemned the action of the Speaker in suspending them for the rest of the session.
