Now, free ‘treatment’ at all Govt hospitals from Aug 15

Mumbai, Aug 12 : In order to provide best medical treatment to citizens of the state under the right to health as enshrined in the Constitution, the Maharashtra government announced on Saturday that all types of medical services will be provided to patients free-of-cost in all the government hospitals from August 15.

As per the government decision dated December 28, 2015 of the Public Health Department, all types of medical services will be provided to the patients free-of-cost from August 15 onwards, therefore, the poor and economically-weaker sections of the state will get free treatment, an official press statement said here.

This decision has been taken due to constant follow-up by Minister of Public Health Prof Dr Tanaji Sawant,

The government has already taken a guarantee of health expenses up to Rs five lakh under schemes like Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana.

Through these schemes, the government has provided cover for health expenses to all citizens of the state, the statement added.
