Massive arrangement has been made for safe conduct of annual Ratha Yatra in Puri

Puri, June 18 : Massive arrangements are being made by the state, railway police and Coast Guard for the safe conduct of the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath scheduled to begin from June 20 next.

Additional DGP Sanjay Kumar told media persons on Sunday that for the first-time coast Guard helicoptor will patrol the beach and fast patrol vehicles will be deployed during the fete.
This apart interceptor boats will be stationed at Paradip ready for any contingency till July 2 next.
Railway ADG Dayal Gangwar and DIG Satyajit Nayak briefed the Railway Police and Coast Guard personnel at a meeting here on Sunday.
The railway will install face recognising cameras in the railway platform to screen the crowd of suspicious charcters. As many as 125 special trains will ply to Puri during the Rath yatra for the convenience of devotees.
A large number of CCTV cameras assisted by drones’ cameras connected to a number of control stations will function during the Rath Yatra said Gangwar.
About 170 platoons of police personnel will be deployed for the conduct of the yatra. For Monday Nabajouban darshan ritual 70 platoons of police will be deployed.
This apart under special mobility plan an advisory on vehicular movement to Puri has been issued on Sunday.
Vehicles coming from Bhubaneswar and Konark will be allowed to park near grid substation and Talabania area while vehicles coming from Brahmagiri will be parked in florence india garden parking place.
This apart 24 places have been reserved for two-wheeler parking. The restriction will be effective from June 19 mid night till 21 st June.
Entire town has been divided into 14 zones and 29 sectors. An integrated traffic control room will operate round the clock till end of the fete.
Special green corridor for emergency ambulance services has been incorporated in the special mobility plan said Amitav Thakur ADG Traffic.
Arrangement has been made to distribute 50 million drinking water bottles among devotees in addition to numerous public water fountain points set up to provide relief to devotees from heat and humidity during the Yatra and prevent dehydration.
A large number of water sprinklers and cold-water mist sprayers will be used to cool the atmosphere informed PK Sahu the Additional District Magistrate
Apart from these a number of first Aid centres with medicos and ambulances are being deployed he added.
A mock drill of pulling of three chariots one after another was held at police grounds on Sunday.
Crowd control during puling of chariots and keeping the inner cordon safe was the prime objective of the drill.
