“Some leaders inspire change. some incite hate. Truth can lead to justice, rehabilitation, reconciliation and peace.

Pracharaks exploit fear and prejudice to divide and rule. But, Statesmen heal wounds.

Today what hits the major headlines in TV and print news is the ensuing visit by Rahul Gandhi to the strife-torn Manipur. Perhaps after a prolonged and unfair gap that any national leader is going to measure Manipur’s plight as worthy of attention.

What stands in contrast to the catatonic silence of the Centtral government in general and the PM Modi in particular that this over three months old ethnic unrest could not deserve PM’s attention.

Manipur is no longer an internal issue of North East or India, its has already echoed beyond the boundaries.

Anytime and anywhere the common question that stares at the PM. What is important for him now?

As a PM he is politically and morally duty-bound to turn his head from softer issues like Yoga in US or flagging off trains or heading to the poll-bound Madhya Pradesh and recalling the horrors of 1975 Emergency.

But, somehow, for reasons not known the PM has not been able to unshackle himself for a Manipur trip.

Over 120 have died in Manipur clashes and en number of houses destroyed and no count as how many students have got  uprooted from studies.

It has become a humanitarian catastrophe now morphed like the Bride of of Frankenstein for India.
