What a story of emotion, love and also the destruction of a lover duo’s nest that relegated to an abysmal low. As if the space for love has vanished in the gloom of hate, harassment and social ostracisation.
Aamir (name changed) of MP was in love with a girl who loved him equally and a new love story stemmed from there. A love that survived the untold social stigmas from a certain community but not before passing through an arduous phase hate and pain.
And what price they paid? It was just shockingly unbelievable that two lovers can be subjected to indescribable irony of fate pushing them to a state of self rejection.
“I loved a woman and she loved me back. What is wrong with that? Can someone tell us? Why are we being punished?” Aamir was quoted by a media platform.
Aamir and Mansi(name changed) were tied in a bond of love that did not go well with the so called harbingers of moral and racist priests who see human sentiments nothing in comparison to their caste discrimination.
Just an interfaith couple who wanted to live their life were nearly pulverized in Madhya Pradesh’s Didnori district.
Lovers are usually chased but in the case of Aamir & Mansi it was worse as even after their marriage last year in April they have been hounded by just because they were from different faith.
Not that the young couple was hounded from here and there but the house of Aamirs’ father’s home was demolished under flimsy grounds.
Of course “ they have a right to choose the life partner of their choice” said Madhya Pradesh High Court and the latter granted protection to both,
But the radicals did not stop. Ostracisation was the main tool that was used by the hate-mongers for the two Aamir, a driver by profession and Mansi was pursuing an academic career.
Things got worse when Mansi’s family started opposing the relationship on the ground of faiths and Aamir was not a Hindu. That fuelled the fire and it spread to the communal advocates who jumped into it with an agenda to finish the so called aberration as they believe.
At home and outside the barbs of hatred to their relationship made Mansi mentally disturbed and she saw her and Aamir’s safety in a double jeopardy and the couple was literally on the run.
Mansi was kept in a virtual house arrest in her Aunt’s house in Jabalpur area where she was kept in complete isolation and harassed as well being pressed to change her decision for Aamir.
At last Mansi broke the shackles and escaped from there.
A phone call that mattered
She had no mobile and she borrowed one from some passerby and called Aamir. A call Aamir was long waiting for and a talk Mansi was looking for.
Meanwhile, three shops of Aamir and his father were razed by the Civic authorities on the ground of encroachment which was really not.
At last the lover duo reached the High Court that gave the verdict in their favour.
Now they are living far away in Didnori area trying hard to keep their presence a secret, house bolted from inside and sometimes from outside.
