Cyclone Michaung to trigger heavy rains in Southern Odisha: IMD

Bhubaneswar, Dec 5 : Cyclone Michaung will cause heavy rainfall in southern and Coastal Odisha on Tuesday and Wednesday, Met sources said.
The IMF had already issued yellow warnings to five southern Odisha districts where heavy to very heavy rainfall was likely to occur on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Reports said rains lashed some southern Odisha districts including Gajapati since late Monday night.
The IMD however had issued no cyclone warning for Odisha.The Distant Warning Signal number two has been hoisted in all the ports in Odisha
The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and into West Ventral Bay of Bengal till December 6.
The Odisha government has advised the farmers to take extra precaution of their harvested crop and move them to safer places .
All schools in Gajapati district have been declared holiday on Wednesday anticipating heavy rainfall due to the cyclone Michaung which will make a landfall on Tuesday at Bapatla between Nellore and Machilipatnam as a severe cyclonic storm,
The IMD has issued orange and yellow warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall in most of the southern Odisha districts.
Met sources said squally wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph likely to prevail in and off Odisha coast till afternoon of December 5 evening and subsequently it will decrease.
It also said there will be some damages to the standing crops and vegetables and temporary water logging in the low lying areas.
