Congress led oppn cries in the wilderness of dismay as the BJP’s nitpicking keeps them bleed

By D N Singh

On the issue of Adani scam issue, the opposition in general and the Congress in particular have been hitting their heads against the walls with their persistent demand for a JPC probe.

Lot of water have gone down the drain since the so called Congress led opposition have been pitching for a probe on Adani and many issues connected to  the people such as inflation and so on.

Then came the issue which dampened the opposition pursuit was the Rahul Gandhi imbroglio that took away a lot of steam out of the Congress shell almost jeopardizing the scion of the Congress with a wider debate across the non-BJP camp as well.

Even the scores by Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra could not add momentum to the Congress account after that and still the issue is in a jinx as whether any legal leeway can help the ‘unjust’ disqualification  of his parliamentary membership.

It all came as cheering notes for the BJP and its cohorts.

With 2024 barely any far to go the BJP, it can be said has been able to manage its pre-electoral strategy well.

The Congress on Wednesday reiterated its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue.

The Hindenburg Research Report on Adani Group alleged that it had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over the course of decades.

“We reiterate the Opposition demand for a JPC to examine all the relevant aspects of the ‘Adani Mega Scam’ and to present the unvarnished truth to the people of India,” Congress general secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh has been quoted as saying.

BJP seems unperturbed by the opposition demands on all the aspects and through the national investigating agencies the nitpicking appears consistently hammering at the opposition which is desperately trying to show any unity as of.

He further jibed , “It will not, for instance, look into whether PM Narendra Modi forced the State Bank of India (SBI) to sign an MoU to lend the Adani Group US$1 billion over a lunch meeting with Gautam Adani and SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya. It will not investigate the true source of the Rs 20,000 crore of unaccounted investment in the Adani Group.”

But that sounds like a cry in the wilderness.
