Utkal Ranjan Sahoo Appointed as Director General of Police (DGP) of Rajasthan

Jaipur: Senior Odia IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahoo has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Rajasthan for a tenure of two years or until further orders. Sahoo, who had been holding the additional charge of Rajasthan police chief since the previous incumbent Umesh Mishra opted for voluntary retirement on December 29, has now been appointed as the full-time DGP, as per official sources.

A seasoned 1988 batch IPS officer, Sahoo’s suitability for the role of DGP was evidenced by his adept coordination of the conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals held in Jaipur. The conference, graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, highlighted Sahoo’s organizational prowess and leadership skills.

Following an endorsement from the Union Public Service Commission, Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant journeyed to Delhi for a crucial meeting. Subsequently, the government formalized Sahoo’s appointment as the DGP, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career.
