Pune, June 21 : Maharashtra spokesperson of Congress Gopal Dada Tiwari said on Wednesday that his party doesn’t have any problems for awarding the Gandhi Peace prize for 2021 to Gita press Gorakhpur.
Tiwari was reacting the statement made by his own party leader Jairam Ramesh who recently had criticised the Modi government for awarding the Gandhi Peace Prize to Gita Press. Jairam Ramesh had described through his tweet that the decision taken by a jury headed by Prime Minister a “travesty” and is like awarding Savarkar and Godse.”
Though Mr Tiwari acknowledged that efforts taken by Gandhi family in promoting the “Bharatiya Dharma Sanskriti” (The Indian cultural, custom and tradition during the tenure of Rajiv Gandhi was highly appreciated and same has acknowledged by the people of the country. He said Indira Gandhi herself brought the first black-white TV in the country and later colored TV was introduced.
Following the insistence of Rajiv Gandhi, ‘Ramayana and Mahabharata’ serials were shown on TV every Sunday for long times which had created itself a world record in term of viewership, recalled Tiwari. He further said that construction of ram temple in Ayodhya was possible because of Late Rajiv Gandhi who had taken first initiative and broke open the lock of Ram temple which was closed from many years.
Criticized on BJP, Tiwari said that BJP is trying to hide the real fact which Congress have given to country and warned not to indulge in spreading rumors and false statements.
He further said that shri Hanuman Prasad Poddar and Jaidayal Goenka ji created many scriptures along with great books of Indian culture Ramayana, Mahabharata and Kalyan magazine through Gita Press Gorakhpur had went to jail during the independence struggle movement with Mahatma Gandhi.
Appreciating the work of Gita press which have made own identity in the world and keeping away from politics shadows.
Tiwari said that statement made by Jairam Ramesh may have his own decisions. Refusing to accept the Gandhi peace award amount of 1 crore by Gita press is also highly appreciated, opined Sr Congress leader Tiwari who also known to loyal of Gandhi families.
