Breaking: Bus strike postponed till Oct 31 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 : Odisha Private Bus Owners Association announced to postpone its ongoing indefinite strike till October 31 next after Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu at a meeting with the Association leaders assured that buses under the Location -Accessible multimodal initiative (LAccMI) are not from Panchayat to Districts now.
The Private buses were on strike from 6AM this morning in protest against the launching of buses under the LAccMI scheme from Panchayat to districts.
The Minister said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while launching the LAccMI scheme in Gajapati on Friday had also said that buses under the scheme will run from Panchayat to Blocks.
Private Bus Owners Association Secretary Debendra Sahu said a meeting will be held between the government and the association members on October 26 and a resolution will be passed about the areas of operation of private and LAccMI buses.
In view of the Minister’s assurance the association and Chief Minister’s statement, the Association decided to postpone its agitation. and to normalise bus service immediately.
