Bihar is looked up as the only hope to script a narrative against BJP, Arundhati Roy joins the league

After long the acclaimed author and activist, Arundhati Roy has focused her preference on Nitish’s Bihar as the only combo that can give a momentum to check-mate the incumbent rule at the Centre.

Can Bihar play the bag-piper role in the opposition unity in the face of a fierce political presence of the Bharatiya Janata Party led NDA. This has remained a big question as several initiatives by leaders like C  Chandrasekhar Rao, Mamata Bannerjee, and few more have in the past failed to crystallize.

In the face of all that, however, Bihar is the only state which withstood many headwinds from the BJP and emerged as a strong political combination along with the Rastriya Janata Dal(RJD) headed by Tajaswi Yadav.

And it was no mere feat on Nistih Ku’s part to part at a time when he was almost on the brink of a dissipation in Politics of the NDA.

Yet he played his cards close to his chest and floated the idea of caste-based census that was straight opposed by the Modi regime for whatever reason.

Even critics of Bihar politics smelt a slow decline in his political fate and his bonhomie with the Lalu Yadav family was not even taken with enough hope thus a few writing on the walls said about Nitish’s political wilderness.

Even Nitish straight opposed the Agnivir scheme calling it a water-bubble and dubbed it  as a band-aid approach to please the saffron cadres.

But things went ok and his chemistry with Tejaswi Yadav rescued from the state of floundering political comatose and he won the race registering a sharp blow on the BJP’s face.

Arundhati Roy said on Friday that she has “great expectations from Bihar in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as the exercise of opposition unity is starting from the state which will prove successful.”

Roy was in Patna to participate in the 11th national meeting of CPI(ML) held at the Sri Krishna Memorial hall.

“We have great expectations that Bihar will play a crucial role in opposition unity ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha polls. Recently, the BJP received a big jolt in Bihar. People of the country are looking at Bihar to remove the BJP from the Centre,” Roy said.

“At present, the country is run by only four people — Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. The country has 21 people whose wealth is more than the collective wealth of 30 crore people. Look at Adani, he is operating in almost all sectors,” Roy said.

“We need a sensible alliance to remove the BJP from the Centre. The Left parties have taken the initiative and have also invited the two alliance leaders, Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav. We are hopeful that they will participate in the CPI(ML) event on the second day,” Roy said.
