Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 22 : Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mohammad Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam, who were convicted by a local court in a forgery case, were shifted to Sitapur and Hardoi jails respectively from Rampur jail on Sunday, official sources said here.
Sources said that Azam and Abdullah were brought out of Rampur jail in the early hours of the day and they were shifted to different jails amidst tight security arrangements.
“While Azam has been transferred to Sitapur jail, his son and former MLA Abdullah has been shifted to Hardoi jail.” they said.
While being transferred to Sitapur jail, Azam expressed his apprehension about an encounter. He said that anything could happen.
It may be noted that former cabinet minister Azam Khan, his wife and former MP Tanzeen Fatima and their son and former MLA Abdullah Azam were sentenced to seven years imprisonment in a fake birth certificate case by a special court in Rampur on October 18.
