Amritsar, May 17: A 7-year-old girl of village Rampura in Amritsar was found murdered on Tuesday late night. Her step mother has been taken into custody for the alleged crime, the police said on Wednesday.
Abhiroz, a class two student, had gone for the tutions on Monday at around 1600 hrs and did not return home. After their search efforts failed, the father of the girl filed a missing complaint.
Meanwhile, a video of CCTV footage went viral, in which Jyoti, step mother of Abhiroz, was seen carrying a bucket-like-object. It was suspected that the body of the girl was inside the bucket.
Late Tuesday night the body of the girl was found in a pond near the village after which Jyoti was arrested.
