Bhubaneswar, Nov 16 : Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Cuttack in Odisha on Thursday convicted and sentenced former Principal (Retired) of Biraja Sanskrit Mahavidyalay, Jajpur, to two years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a bribery case.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, sentenced Surendranath Mishra, the Ex-Principal (retired) to undergo two years RI and imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on him.
The Court ruled that in default of payment of fine, Mishra has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988.
Mishra was chargesheeted by Vigilance in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for issuance of College Leaving Certificate (CLC).
Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mishra, following his sentence.
