Mumbai, Sep 25 : A 29-year-old man from the Govandi area of Mumbai suburb was arrested by police for allegedly raping a domestic help.
Police said on Monday, a man identified as Shoaib Borkar had hired the 30-year-old victim to assist his ailing mother in January 2021. The victim was a resident of Mankhurd and she went to his place every day.
In August, he called her and asked her to come behind a nursing home in the same area where he offered her a cold drink, ‘Rooh Afza’ (which contained some drugs), and after that the accused raped her.
He also took her photos and videos and threatened not to disclose them to anyone, or he would send the same to her family and upload them on social media.
In her complaint to the police, the woman said she was raped by the accused multiple times.
A first information report was registered against the man on Friday night. Borkar was charged under Sections 376 (rape), 376 (2) (n) (rape repeatedly on the same woman), 328 (administering a stupefying drug with intent to cause hurt), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
