Bhubaneswar, Nov 6 : The Missing Persons Monitoring Unit (MPMU) team of the Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW & CA) of Odisha police has rescued ten children staying at various places in West Bengal.
Official sources here on Monday said the MPMU headed by DSP Sarat Chandra Patra rescued the children after it tracked them from the missing child portal on October 30 last.
These children were staying at different CCIs of West Bengal.
These ten children included one from Cuttack, two from Bhadrak, one each from Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar, two girls from Balasore and one each from Khordha and Jajpur district.
Sources said these missing children were rescued from Howrah, Kolkata and Paschim Medinipur.
On inquiry it came to limelight that among the rescued children ,three got separted from their mother in the running train, two orphans were working as child labour and one of the girl had run away from home while others got missing from various railway stations.
After rescuing, the children were produced before CWC, Kolkata and the team returned to Odisha with the rescued children and produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Khordha as per the J J Act.
The four girls have been lodged at Biswa Jeevan Seva Sangha, Khandagiri and six boys at Ruchika Short Stay Home in Bhubaneswar for safe custody.
These children will soon be reunited with their families.
Official sources said three special drives were conducted since 2022 in which 5379 missing persons were traced till date.
In 2022, the CAW & CW had rescued six girls from different places in Tamil Nadu and subsequently they were reunited with their families.
