Got leads in killing of Head Constable : JK DGP

Srinagar, Nov 4 : The newly appointed Police Chief R R Swain on Saturday said they have got leads in the killing of Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar who was shot dead by Militants in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Tuesday.

The DGP said they will go to the bottom of the incident and the murderer and those who helped the killers would be traced and brought to justice .

“We have lost a member of our Police parivar (family), a nobleman, a father, a brother, and a citizen of Kashmir”. We have vowed to go to the bottom of the matter and identify the killer and all those who supported him in any way and bring them to justice,” Swain told reporters after visiting the house of slain head constable in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar was shot dead on Tuesday evening by militants outside his home at Wailoo Kralpora in Baramulla. He was the sole bread-earner for the 8-member family consisting of seven daughters and wife. The killing was widely condemned.

“We have got leads in the case and investigation is going on. The perpetrators will be brought to justice very soon,” he added.

The DGP said that handlers from across the borders are not sending money here to build hospitals, roads and other things but to support terrorism and disturb peace here.

“We will be able to foil their plans only when no one here supports them and we are working to create that atmosphere”, Swain said.

He said that anyone here or from across the border providing any support to terror activities would be brought to justice.

Earlier, he met the family members of the head constable and expressed his heartfelt condolences on behalf of J&K Police.

The DGP expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family and assured all help from the Police department.

He assured that whole Police Pariwar is with the martyr’s family and assured them all possible support.

Swain was accompanied by Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Deputy Inspector General North Kashmir Vivek Gupta, and Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure.
