Imphal, Sep 13 : A Sub-Inspector of Manipur Police identified as Onkhomang Haokip died in a firing incident by miscreants at Chingphei village under Moirang PS on Wednesday.
Manipur Police strongly condemned the dastardly attack. His last rites will be performed at Churachandpur in a befitting manner.
Police further said the situation in the state remains tense with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors.
Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Thoubal, , Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts in which one arm was recovered from Thoubal district and one bunker was dismantled at Kangpokpi district.
As the Imphal to Mao highway remains blocked since May 3 at Kangpokpi , Manipur government brought 365 vehicles along NH-37 and 196 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items by providing security.
