Crime those be dealt without trials : Acid attack left five, including two policemen, injured Agartala,
Aug 8 : Police launched a search operation against the accused people involved in hurling acid bottles on a police van on Monday that left three civilians and two policemen injured at Simna in Mohanpur sub-division of West Tripura, said AIG Joytisman Daschoudhury here on Tuesday. Nobody has been arrested so far in connection with the incident; he said, adding that the miscreants hurled acid bottles targeting a police van from a hiding location. All the injured people have been shifted to the Agartala Govt Medical College hospital at night and stated to be out of danger, he said. According to the report, a worker of Simna tea garden identified as Bimal Santal was thrashed badly by local traders in the market on Sunday, accusing him of leading the thief gang. The incident aggrieved his neighbourhood, prompting them to attack the houses of Prantosh Das, Kajal Das, and Subir Das on Monday, who allegedly led the mob in beating Bimal. Allegedly, the tea garden workers vandalised the houses and assaulted their family members. Getting information about the tension, a police team reached the spot, cleared the crowd, and took Prantosh, Kajal, and Subir in the police van. But before the police van could leave the area, acid bottles had been thrown at them, inflicting severe injuries on the people sitting inside, including two police personnel.
