The news City sedan is launched on in the country on March 2, 2023.Honda Cars India has been teasing the facelifted car for quite a while now and will finally roll out the updated model with notable updates to the exterior profile as well as features list. The car has already started reaching the company dealerships and customer test drives will begin on March 3rd.
Honda City facelift: what new
The new teaser video of the refreshed Honda City revealed some glimpses of the front of the vehicle. It seems to have a thinner chrome slat in the new front grille as well as the LED headlights. The teaser also hints at the new design of the bumper.
The City facelift is expected to come with a new look and a design for front and rear bumpers. The chrome bar in the front fascia that spanned the width of the car is now thinner. The company is expected to offer a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels in the higher trims. While the ower trims will continue to be offered with 15-inch alloy wheels.
With the update, Honda will add a new Obsidian Blue paint shade as well.
New Honda City: Will there be new features?
One of the key additions on the upcoming 2023 City sedan will be in the form of ADAS features including lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking. In addition, the new car will also feature a fresh entry-level SV trim which will only be available in a 6-speed manual gearbox, meanwhile, the existing V, VX and ZX trims will additionaly continue featuring an option for the CVT gearbox.
Honda City facelift: powertrains
With this update, the City facelift will become a petrol-only sedan. It will continue with the 121hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. It will also have the 126hp, 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle hybrid engine mated to an e-CVT gearbox. As of now, the City is the only car in the midsize sedan to offer a strong-hybrid powertrain.
Honda will upgrade both engines to meet the RED ( real driving emission) norms and E20 compliance. However, there will be no diesel engine on offer due to a lack of sales and RDE regulations.
New Honda City: Expected pricing
City will continue to rival the likes of the sedans such as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus. When launched it is expected to cost slightly higher than the outgoing car and its pricing could start off somewhere from well above Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
