Mulayam Forced To Campaign For Son: Yogi (Exclusive)

Lucknow, Feb 19 (UNI) Days after the father-son duo of Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav made headlines as they were seen together at a Mainpuri rally, BJP leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said the Samajwadi Party has completely lost its face among the voters. Just a day ahead of the third phase of polling, Adityanath speaking exclusively to UNI on Saturday, said people even in Akhilesh’s home constituency like Karhal, where polling is slated on Sunday, there the SP’s chances are slim. Adityanath also claimed such dismay has struck the party that “now Mulayam Singh is forced to campaign for his son” although the SP patron has least interest in Akhilesh Yadav’s fortune in the ongoing Assembly polls.

“How can a father forget the name of his son, for whom he is campaigning in Karhal? “SP leaders had to remind Mulayam a couple of times to take the name of Akhilesh during electioneering in Karhal two days back. “However, he could not remember for whom he was campaigning. This shows the real picture of the SP and its leaders, who have now surrendered to the onslaught that voters are going to bring on them as they choose BJP,” the chief minister said. Talking to UNI here before leaving for the day’s campaigning on Saturday, Adityanath said it was evident that the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party is losing the battle even in Karhal.

“By asking his father to campaign on his behalf, he made the things clear. “We are confident that voters will teach these opposition leaders a lesson in this election by sending them back to their homes,” he said. The chief minister claimed that the Samajwadi Party is fighting a lost battle and just two of the seven rounds of polling has proven this point. “In the coming five phases, BJP will garner more strength to return with a record verdict by the people of the state.

“BJP will achieve a 3/4th majority in the state assembly (that has 403 seats).” “No move of Akhilesh will yield any result now as people have decided whom to support in the elections and who would be shown the doors,” he said. “Days of cheap populist announcement like free electricity and other things by the SP and other political parties are over,” Adityanath said, adding “they have been rejected by the voters who also know these sops do not have financial backing”.

Yogi Adityanath said those leaders who have left the BJP or the NDA alliance are now in doldrums and were shifting from their traditional constituencies just to save themselves from the wrath of the voters. “We are following the ideology of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the double engine government of UP in its five years tenure has given a clean and development-oriented government, working only for the people without any discrimination,” Adityanath told
