Pune, Jan 27 : Well-known writer, author and founder of Muktangan, Dr Anil Awachat, passed away at his residence here on Thursday morning after a long illness. He was 78. Dr Awachat was unwell for some few days. He was discharged from a hospital four days back.
He and his late wife Dr. Anita Awachat established Muktangan, a de-addiction center. Their work will continue, said Muktangan President Dr. Anand Nadkarni. Awachat’s writing style made him popular. He was also a social worker. Dr Awachat, who completed his MBBS from the BJ Medical College, Pune, is survived by his daughters Mukta and Yashoda.
