MGR Bust Vandalised In TN, AIADMK Stage Protest
Thanjavur, Jan 25: Unidentified miscreants vandalised the bust of AIADMK founder and late Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran, also fondly called as MGR in Thanjavur town on Tuesday, sparking protests by AIADMK cadre.
Police said the cement bust of MGR installed by the partymen two decades ago at North Street was dislodged from the pedestal. The bust was found thrown on the roadside.
Tension prevailed for some time, as a large number of AIADMK men assembled at the spot and staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Senior police officials intervened and restored normalcy. The AIADMK men restored the bust on the pedestal by placing boulders to support it. Based on a complaint, the Thanjavur West Police have registered a case and are investigating.Â
