Game-Changers! Tripura BJP MLAs Group All Set To Desert Party
Agartala, Jan 13 : A number of Tripura BJP MLAs are all set to follow the suit of Uttar Pradesh, as senior BJP MLA and former health minister of BJP-IPFT government here Sudip Roybarman has announced not to contest next election in BJP ticket and repented for the ‘mistake’ by fighting 2018 assembly election as a BJP nominee.
According to the report, upset over the alleged non-cooperation from the Biplab Kumar Deb government and disrespect from state BJP functionaries for the last one year, Roybarman and six of his team members have been waiting for a redressal from BJP central leadership but finally, it did not happen despite several rounds of discussion with the top rank.
After resigning from BJP, Swami Prasad Maurya, Labour Minister of Yogi Adityanath’s government in Uttar Pradesh, and four other MLAs, Roybarman said, “There is no question whether BJP will offer me ticket or not. I will not run for BJP in next election,” in a student gathering at Sabroom in South Tripura on Wednesday.
Roybarman said he accompanied by another senior BJP MLA Ashis Kumar Saha had gone on the invitation of the students on Wednesday to Sabroom degree college to attend a blood donation camp on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary but after reaching there they go to know health department had cancelled the camp at the last moment.
“I am hurt to see the attitude of the government, which not only prevented the camp by misusing the administration; they called up the students not to join me. But not only students, a few hundred guardians along with students and teachers came and listened to us. Most unfortunately, a local leader of ABVP Abhijit Deb and five others were beaten up badly after my return, as he joined me. The students, teachers and guardians were reportedly getting threats for attending my lecture – what could be the saddest part of a BJP like party?” Roybarman asked.
He alleged that BJP national president J P Nadda, General Secretaries B L Santosh and Arun Singh and Amit Saha himself in presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had several times assured me that they would take steps against the leaders who were persuading vendetta politics for personal gain and making the party unpopular every day, but nothing happened rather a magnitude of those misdeeds increased in manifolds.
“The people of Tripura have been suffering from misrule and atrocities of saffron cadres and the state administration and police didn’t do anything and now the spiral of pain is unbearable. Soon we will take the decision of our future,” Roybarman said, adding that there is no government at all in Tripura today.
“Mistakes are a part of human life. Even we have committed mistakes. But, the purpose of life should be correcting the mistakes. We are also on the same path. We are rectifying our mistakes and I strongly call upon to be the voice of voiceless, shoulder responsibility of ensuring democratic rights of people, he added.”
