AIFF chief praises Odisha for supporting national women’s teams

Kolkata, Sep 8 : Newly elected All India Football Federation president Kalyan Chaubey on Thursday lauded the efforts of the Odisha government and its chief minister Naveen Patnaik for supporting Indian national under-17 and under-20 women’s teams during their training.
Chaubey said the Odisha government contributed – logistically and infrastructurally – for women national football teams. India u-20 and u-17 women’s teams had been given all the facilities for preparing themselves in Bhubaneswar.
The AIFF president said they would soon meet the Odisha chief minister and take up issues for development of football in the region. The AIFF team would also visit Manipur and Mizoram on the same issue.
Addressing a media conference here, the former national goalkeeper said the state governments and their respective football bodies have a huge responsibility to take the sport ahead. The coordination between the two could take football to a new high, which would pave the way for shaping national football, he added.
Elaborating on the subject, Chaubey said the AIFF would approach the state government and its football association and sign a tripartite agreement for all-round development of football. He said the states and their football associations may have different issues of their own, which would be addressed under the agreement in respect of the development of football.
