Big Fight: SC to hear PILs challenging CAA

New Delhi, Sep 8 : The Supreme Court will hear over 100 pleas challenging the validity of provisions of the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) law 2019 on Monday.

The Supreme Court’s two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Uday Umesh Lalit and also comprising Justice S Ravindra Bhatt will hear the matter on September 12, Monday.

The CAA law, brought by the central government, had led to severe criticism and massive protests in the National capital and other parts of the country.

Following these protests, violence and riots too had broken out in Jamia Milia Islamia in New Delhi in December 2019 and in North East Delhi in February 2020, respectively.
