Data safe and secure: WhatsApp says it is working on ‘View Once’ message feature
WhatsApp is used by every other person and it keeps working on updates that are needed to keep users’ data safe and secure.
Messaging platform WhatsApp has said it working on a feature in which the messages can be viewed once before disappearing. According to a report, the feature is under development and is not available for beta testers.
While WhatsApp already offers the option to delete messages, the platform is giving more options to offer better privacy.
As per the screenshots shared by the cited source, WhatsApp is planning to add a new special button in the chat that will let you send messages that disappear from your chat after the recipient has opened them once. The app will also let the sender see if a recipient has opened a View Once text if they have read receipts turned on.
This feature is useful when you are sharing very sensitive information and want to immediately delete it from the recipient’s phone for enhanced privacy. It will not be possible to forward and copy these messages. The feature to take screenshots will be blocked but there is no confirmation yet.
For this feature to work, a special send button will be given near the chat bar. There will be a lock mark on this button. The message sent in View once will be automatically deleted from the chat after the receiver has read it.
Earlier this month, the messaging platform also rolled out a new disappearing messages shortcut On Android Beta.
The new shortcut is placed within the ‘Manage Storage’ section and is marked as a tool to save a place.
