Uproar In RS Over Digvijay’s Remarks On PM
New Delhi, Feb 3 : There was uproar in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday after Congress leader Digvijay Singh called Prime Minister Narendra Modi an expert in natak and nautanki. “This is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s way of functioning. He is an expert in natak and nautanki… He bows as he stepped into Parliament,” said Singh as the House debated Motion of Thanks on the President’s address for the second consecutive day. Treasury benches objected to Digvijay Singh’s remarks about the Prime Minister.
“You don’t have faith in parliamentary procedures, using these words against the PM is unacceptable…” said MP Rakesh Sinha. Digvijay Singh targeted the government for what he termed “disturbing the unity and diversity of the country” and asked why the PM didn’t utter a word on the dharm sansad at Haridwar where the alleged calls of genocide against Muslims were made. “The PM tweets to express sympathy if somebody’s finger gets injured, but he remained tight-lipped over the communal speeches made at the dharm sansad,” he said. Digvijay accused the government for disturbing the social fabric of the country and said that the divide between the rich and the poor has further widened under the current regime. Giving statistics of direct taxes, he also accused the government of taxing the poor more and the rich less.
“The UPA government brought 23 crore BPL people above poverty line, but the present government has pushed 20 crore people BPL” he said. In a veiled attack, Digvijay also targeted the RSS. “This ideology (of the PM) is the product of the organization which is spreading disharmony and fanaticism in the country,” he said. He also accused the government of “hatching a conspiracy” in the Bhima Koregaon case and asked why the chargesheet has not been filed against the arrested social activists till now.
